Summer Operations Assistant

 

Summer Operations Assistants (SOAs) perform a variety of duties during the summer break as our physical spaces are improved across campus. This position will challenge the abilities of the chosen candidates and offer them valuable business skills in communication and organization, as well as provide a basic understanding of facilities management. SOAs report to the a summer Operations Intern.

This position requires approximately fifteen (15) hours of on-site work in five 3-hour shifts each week. Additionally, staff will serve on the “On Call” rotation for Clairmont Campus. The staff member on call responds to a variety of situations to assist the residents and facilities while the Clairmont office is closed. Staff members are typically on call once every two weeks.

Responsibilities

Duties shall include but are not limited to: damage inspections, cleaning inspections, monitoring renovation progress, moving furniture, changing light bulbs, locking and unlocking doors, submitting work orders, putting together resident education material, working at the Conferences Services customer service desk, and responding to facility issues.

On call responsibilities include to responding to a variety of situations to assist the residents and facilities while the Clairmont Campus office is closed. Staff members are typically on call once every two weeks.

As a Operations team member, SOAs will attend and participate in all staff meetings, training, and team development sessions.

Employment Dates

Dates of employment for Summer 2015 are from Wednesday, May 13, 2015 through Saturday, August 15, 2015.

Summer Operations Assistants are given four vacation days. One 3-hour shift is the equivalent of one day. Requests for vacation days must be submitted in writing by June 5, 2015.

Remuneration

While employed, SOAs will share a furnished Clairmont Campus apartment with at least one other staff member.

Summer housing assignments will end with employment (August 15, 2015). At this time, staff will transition into their fall housing assignment, whether that is on or off campus. Depending on the Conference Services schedule and the academic year's timeline, your fall on-campus assignment may be unavailable; if that is the case, you are guaranteed housing through interim housing until your assignment opens.
