About Dobbs Hall

Dobbs Hall is the oldest residence hall on the Druid Hills campus of Emory University. Built in 1917, Dobbs Hall is named after Samuel Candler Dobbs, nephew of Asa Griggs Candler and one of the first salespersons for Coca-Cola. Dobbs, president and chairperson of the Coca-cola company from 1919-22 made a $1 million unrestricted gift to Emory University in 1939.

Dobbs Hall was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1975. Dobbs was most recently renovated over the summer of 2012.
