Why Living-Learning Communities?

Offering residents opportunities to live and learn is an important goal of Residence Life & Housing at Emory. As a way to focus students’ living experiences, Residence Life & Housing sponsors a variety of Living-Learning Communities (LLCs).

Research has shown that Living-Learning Communities enhance student success through increased retention and higher grades. Furthermore, by facilitating faculty-student interactions outside of the classroom, students have more opportunities to develop lasting relationships with faculty starting their first year. Studies show that first-year students who have meaningful relationships with faculty members succeed in college more often.

Your student will have much to gain by being involved in our Living-Learning Communities. We hope to help bridge the gap between academics and social life through the opportunities we offer.
