Going Global is an SYE living-learning community that builds upon the FYE theme of Global Cultures. This community occupies one floor of the Complex. Any current freshman is eligible to participate in the community; all you need is a desire to learn more about international issues.
WHAT IS GOING GLOBAL?
GOING GLOBAL IS INTENTIONALITY
Live in Complex with a group of like-minded peers: second-year students interested in continuing to live internationally in their second year. Learn from those living around you and motivate each other to take action around campus. We also make learing easy by bringing international programming to Complex.
GOING GLOBAL IS APPLICATION
Apply all of that cultural knowledge you’ve gained while in your first year at Emory. You, as the Going Global community, will decide how you want to continue learning and getting involved with international education around Emory and the Atlanta community.
GOING GLOBAL IS LEADERSHIP
Begin to establish yourself as a leader by taking an active role in providing programming around global cultures and internationalism for the sophomore community. Encourage positive change among your peers!
GOING GLOBAL IS MENTORSHIP
Be a mentor to students living in Longstreet-Means as they begin to learn about global cultures. Partner for events and encourage dialogue around living internationally.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
Become a member of the Going Global Living Learning Community and you will have an active voice in what’s included in the programming, events, and education of this international community. Going Global staff will listen to your opinion and work to include all facets of global education that are important to your peers and you. You will have an opportunity to sit on a Going Global leadership council to control programming and events that take place in Complex, within the Second Year at Emory program, and among the greater Emory and Atlanta communities.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Any current first year student is eligible
- On the application, you can indicate your roommate choice. In order to be considered, your roommate must also fill out a Going Global application. Start talking to your friends!
- Applications are due Friday, February 7, and spots are first come, first served. Each student must fill out his/her/hir own personal application.
You and your roommate/suitemates will be notified of your acceptance on Friday, February 14, 2014 and you must commit to living in Green Action, thus committing to live in the Complex, NO LATER than Saturday, February 15, 2014.
