Green Action

Green Action is an SYE living-learning community that builds upon the theme of LIVING GREEN into the second year. This community occupies one floor of the Woodruff Residential Center. Any current freshman is eligible to participate in the community; all you need is a desire to learn more about sustainable living.

WHAT IS GREEN ACTION?

GREEN ACTION IS INTENTIONALITY
Live in Woodruff Residential Center with a group of like-minded peers: second year students interested in continuing to live green in their second year. Learn from those living around you and motivate each other to take action around campus. We also make acting green easy by bringing sustainability programming to Woodruff.

GREEN ACTION IS APPLICATION
Apply all of that sustainability knowledge you’ve gained while in your first year at Emory. You, as the Green Action community, will decide how you want to continue learning and getting involved with sustainability around Emory and the Atlanta community.

GREEN ACTION IS LEADERSHIP
Begin to establish yourself as a leader by taking an active role in providing programming around sustainability for the sophomore community. Encourage positive change among your peers!

GREEN ACTION IS MENTORSHIP
Be a mentor to Fevans students as they begin to learn about sustainability. Partner for events and encourage dialogue around living green.

WHAT THIS MEANS:
Become a member of the Green Action Living Learning Community and you will have an active voice in what’s included in the programming, events, and education of this sustainable community. Green Action staff will listen to your opinion and work to include all facets of sustainable education that are important to your peers and you. You will have an opportunity to sit on a Green Action leadership council to control programming and events that take place in Woodruff Residential Center, within the Second Year at Emory program, and among the greater Emory and Atlanta communities.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Any current first year student is eligible
  • On the application, you can indicate your roommate choice. In order to be considered, your roommate must also fill out a Green Action application. Woodruff Residential Center is a suite-style living environment: two double bedrooms connected by a bathroom. If you have multiple friends interested in the Green Action community, you are also able to pull in two suitemates as well. Start talking to your friends!
  • Applications are due Friday, February 7, and spots are first come, first served. Each student must fill out his/her/hir own personal application.

You and your roommate/suitemates will be notified of your acceptance on Friday, February 14, 2014 and you must commit to living in Green Action, thus committing to live in Woodruff Residential Center , NO LATER than Saturday, February 15, 2014.
