Block Housing Information
Block Housing is a great way to Live at Emory with your friends! Please read the following information carefully to understand what steps need to be taken to ensure a successful block housing experience.

The Block Housing process is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26 in Alabama Hall. Please see the schedule at the bottom of the page.

Students may sign up for blocks of rooms within designated buildings in groups of 4, 6, 8 or 12 students only, depending on the building configuration. Blocks may include rising sophomores, juniors and seniors in any combination of men or women. However, an even number of students of each gender must be maintained. You are only permitted to live with students of your same gender in a room, suite, or apartment. Only double rooms (no singles or supersingles) are available in Block Housing.

How to participate in Block Housing:

1. Speak with your friends, determine who is interested in block housing and pull together your group of 4, 6, 8, or 12 confirmed persons.
2. Each member of the block must complete a Block Participant application [click to download]. The designated Captain of the group must complete both the Block Captain application [click to download] and the Block Participant application. These forms may be downloaded from this web page (click on the links above) or may be picked up in the Housing Office in Alabama Hall.
3. Block Captain and Block Participant forms are due Monday, February 25, 2008 by noon to the reception desk at Alabama Hall. Forms submitted after that date and time will not be considered.
4. Block members must also complete the standard upperclass housing application no later than Tuesday, Feburary 26, 2008.
5. On Tuesday, Februrary 26, starting at 5:00 p.m., Block Captains will report to Alabama hall to select rooms for their block; Block Captains will be emailed with their specific start time. Block captains from Oxford will be contacted individually with sign-up information. Once rooms are selected, the names will be entered into the housing system and block participants will have 24 hours to accept or decline the assignment selected by the Block Captain.

If people in your block decline their housing, the remaining members will be consolidated. Block housing participants without a roommate will be canceled from the housing assignments made by the Block Captain. If your block consists of less than four people 24 hours after the Block Captain chooses housing assignments, your block will be canceled automatically.

Please note the following IMPORTANT stipulation concerning Block Housing:

You are under no obligation to commit to block housing if the available rooms do not meet the needs of your group. Anyone who elects not to choose or declines a block housing space will be eligible to participate in any remaining processes and should select a room at that time.

The following spaces and number requirements are available for Block Housing:

Turman North (2 person double roms only) (4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 needed)
Turman East (2 person double roms only) (4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 needed)

No other combinations of room types or block numbers will be considered.

9:00 - 10:00 Numbers 81 - 100

Please note that the Block Housing Process will close after the final set of numbers has been processed. For example, if there are only 30 groups participating in Block Housing, the process will close at 7:00 p.m. Please plan to come during your scheduled time. Block applications will not be processed on any other day.
