Roommates
Living with a roommate is one of the defining experiences in a student’s college career. You will learn shared responsibility, conflict resolution, compromise, flexibility, and in many cases, you will be exposed to a diverse population. This is a once in a lifetime chance to live in an academic environment and take advantage of all the opportunities on-campus living provides. Friendships blossom everyday in our residence halls, and this is one of the ways that Emory’s community spirit is reinforced.

Please note that housing policy requires that roommates and suitemates be of the same gender. Students who wish to apply for gender-neutral housing in the F-wing of the CRC may requeset and select housing with roommates of any sex or gender. You do not have to have a roommate to apply for housing but be aware that if you are assigned to a double (or larger) space, you will have a roommate(s) assigned with you.

• If you have a roommate preference, please indicate that person or persons in the roommate selection portion of your MyHousing page, after completing the housing application. Please read the section on how to add a roommate.

• If you and your roommate "mutually" request each other, one may pull in the other to a housing assignment.

Please make careful note of the following information regarding how the housing system reads roommate requests:

• An "unmatched" roommate request (you have requested a person but they have not requested you) will hinder your ability to be able to select a room; please make sure any roommate requests you make are mutual or cleared from your roommate request page on MyHousing.
• Multiple roommate requests (mutual or not) may also hinder your ability to search for and select housing. Example: if you have three mutual requests on your MyHousing page, when it is time for you to select a room, the system will only show you spaces for four people (you and your three matched roommates). To see other openings, you would have to either drop or add roommates.
• A matched non-same sex/gender roommate will hinder our ability to search for rooms in all selection processes except those in the CRC F-wing.
