I can’t believe that the end of the semester is almost upon us…finals are coming up and then winter break! This semester has just flown by, I have no idea where the time has gone!
Thanksgiving break was very good. I spent all my time sleeping, eating, catching up on tv shows and eating some more! Since I’ve had so much time lately, I’ve been to the movies a lot this week. I rarely get the chance to go to the movies but I saw Twilight, Australia, and Quantum. They were all really good! Except I was kind of lost in Quantum, everything was all over the place.
I really cannot believe that finals are so soon. I’m really nervous for my finals. I’ve never had so much of my grade be weighted on my finals, its really kind of nerve-racking to think about but the only thing I can do is study so we’ll just see how everything goes. But once that last final is over I can go home and go skiing for a whole month!! I’m so pumped!!
Until next time! :)

Hi again!
:)
The past couple of weeks have been so busy with exams and getting everything done by deadlines. This weekend is such a whirlwind also. OAR was last night which was AMAZING!!!! Front row!! Heck yes! I absolutely love them... Then today is Emory Cares and so far its looking to be a pretty good turnout! So exciting!
Anyways, aside from thinking about upcoming classes, all of Emory is learning how to navigate the new registration system. Most of my friends have junior status, so lucky for them they seem to have gotten most of the classes they wanted. Meanwhile, I am looking at classes and it seems that all the classes that I want are closed. I guess I can wait until add/drop/swap but I really like having my schedule laid out for me, instead of not knowing whether I will get the classes I need. That said, I miss the bid system, so much easier. I’m a little lost on the whole shopping cart system but hopefully I will figure it out soon enough. At least I know what classes to take. The one good thing about premed pre-reqs is that most of the classes are yearlong so I don’t have to scramble around looking for obscure classes to take. I really wish I could see my advisor before I sign up for classes, but he’s always so busy that I won’t be able to see him until afterwards, oh well, he’ll still be really helpful!
So aside from that, I have so much work to do and no time to do it…I have 2 huge exams and a research paper all due in one day! How crazy is that?! So until next time...
1 November 2008
Hi all, as I sit here on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, I cannot believe how incredibly warm it is even though it is November already. And wow, November already?! Time has gone by so fast. I’m already almost done with first semester, only one more month to go! College has been flying by way too fast for me. Freshman year was such a blur but I loved every minute of it!
Before I delve into my sophomore year, here’s a little background info on me. I’m from Spokane, Washington, so yes actually the state and not D.C. I don’t know why but no one ever believes that I’m actually from Washington. Anyways, home is a lot different from Emory, culturally and of course the difference in regions, but I think that is what attracted me to Emory. Originally when I was applying to colleges, I never in a million years would have thought that I would end up at Emory. An older friend from school is at Emory and he convinced me to apply. I did on a whim, but after looking into Emory’s pre-med program decided that it really is an amazing school in all aspects, not just academics. So there it is, the very strange and arbitrary story of how I ended up 2,500 miles away from home.
Even though I’m so far from home, I also consider Emory, like most students, my home. There is always so much to do on campus, sometimes it gets really to pick and choose in the events that you want to participate in. Whether you want to go hear a symphony, watch a soccer game, or go for a run in park, everything is available right on campus. I love participating in clubs and meeting new people but its so hard to choose because I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of other cool events. Last year was a little overwhelming but this year I have narrowed down my interests. I love doing my work with Best Buddies, Colleges Against Cancer, ResLife, Synergy, and Volunteer Emory. I also love playing tennis with Club Tennis, although this year’s timing has been really awkward thus far. From freshman year, I learned that clubs in college are a lot different from clubs in high school. The amount of responsibility and work required is increased but at the same time it is so rewarding when projects turn out extremely successful. Overall, my activities are so much fun that I love doing the work for them.
Well, now that I’ve rambled off half of my life story, I should probably do some orgo reading. I have literally been staring at my book for the past 2 hours, not knowing where to begin. Oh well, I guess I have to start somewhere. Until next time….Ciao!
