SYE helps residents build connections not only with their peers, but with Residence Life staff, Emory faculty, and Emory alumni. In order to facilitate these relationships, SYE hosts several programs with that goal in mind.
Program Offerings
Resident One-on-Ones
A one-on-one interaction with the Resident Advisor (RA) and floor residents, thsi program provides an intentional opportunity to discuss a number of topics: academic success, community involvement, goal setting, and feedback about SYE or other areas.
Faculty Dinner Series
Faculty Dinners are designed as an opportunity for close faculty and student interaction outside the classroom. Each dinner focuses on a different academic area, including: Sciences and Pre-Med, Business and Economics, English and Journalism, Social Sciences, and an International Focus. Invitations to the dinners are extended to fifteen (15) sophomores, five (5) Emory faculty members who represent the academic focus featured at the dinner, and two (2) academic advisors. Faculty and students are seated in such a way to promote dialogue and questions regarding the discipline and career field.
Alumni Receptions
Current second-year students are given the chance to connect with Emory alumni in a reception setting. Students have a change to meet alums, ask them questions about their Emory experience, and learn what they are doing now.
