These programs are used to mark the passage of time as well
as the development of new relationships and skills throughout
the academic year. The intent is to focus the attention of
Emory on sophomores, and to focus the attention of sophomores
on Emory. Formal events, such as the class ring ceremony, as
well as informal social events, will provide a ceremonial backbone
to the sophomore experience at Emory.

Class Pin Ceremony
Sophomores receive a lapel pin which is a replica of the Emory
crest found on the official class ring. This ceremony is a
finals study break in early December. Because the event is
advertised as a study break, food is incorporated into the
program. A short presentation on the history of the crest is
part of the ceremony. The Alumni Office and the College Bookstore
co-sponsor this event.
