B.A.S.E. Program
Bridging Academics, Service, and Ethics at Emory

B.A.S.E. stands for Bridging Academics, Service, and Ethics at Emory. Located in the Clairmont Campus Undergraduate Residential Center, we are a group of 28 undergraduate students and a faculty advisor living together for the school year. Our goal as a hall is to build upperclassman community living by integrating social and intellectual life. This begins by getting to know one's neighbors on the hall through fun activities (such as the opening retreat, intramural sports, and holiday parties) and extends to having monthly dinners with distinguished faculty in the Emory community (such as University President Wagner and Geshe Lohkdor, Associate of the Dalia Lama). Members of the hall also engage in projects that aim to bring this intermingling of intellectual and social life to the larger community at Emory. Ongoing Projects include a Clairmont Campus Poker Tournament fundraiser as part of a Habitat for Humanity project and a St. Patrick's Day party for patients of Egleston's Childrens Hospital.

Who Can Apply?
BASE THEME HALL housing is open ONLY to rising Juniors and Seniors at Emory College. All students of diverse beliefs, cultures, and fields of study are encouraged to apply. The hall is designed to be fun and relaxed as well as creatively and intellectually exciting. We encourage students to make sure that they have a desire to meet new people, to build relationships with their peers, and to commit part of their schedule to planning and participating in the hall activities. As such, BASE residents may be required to sign a pledge of commitment.

Who Sponsors the Hall?
The BASE THEME Hall is sponsored by Emory Scholars, Emory Center for Ethics, and Science and Society but not limited to student members of these groups. Many of the halls' activities will allow for interaction with faculty, staff and members from these groups as well.
