Community Living: Rights & Responsibilities

Residents of Emory University residence halls and apartment communities have certain rights and responsibilities.

Rights
As a resident, you have the right to pursue your studies in a pleasant environment. Each residential community must establish certain rules and standards to ensure the best possible living conditions for its residents.

Responsibilities
As a student living in University housing, you have the responsibility to adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, as well as University and housing regulations and policies.
When you sign the Undergraduate Housing Agreement, you agree to abide by these policies and those of the Undergraduate Code of Conduct.

Guidelines have been established to promote the development of an environment that is suitable for the total education and comfort of everyone involved. When these laws or policies are violated, the University is obligated to take action. Any violation of community standards is a violation of your rights.
