Commencement SeasonWhether you are a student graduating from Emory College, the School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, or any other division of Emory University, there many activities to mark Commencement season. Here are just a few: Thursday, May 10, 2007 Class Day, Glenn Memorial Auditorium, 5:30-6:30 p.m. - This event is for baccalaureate degree graduates of Emory College, Goizueta Business School, and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. This year’s Class Day speaker is actress and activist, Mia Farrow. Visit the Class Day website for more information. Friday, May 11, 2007 The Torch and Trumpet Soirée, Emory Conference Center Hotel, 9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. - The Soirée will feature a live performance by Kingsized, which has previously been named "Best Local Dance Band" by Creative Loafing. Their set will span music from the 1940's to modern day, paying homage to the many generations of Emory alumni that have come before. This fabulous dance party and reception is an annual Emory Commencement Weekend highlight and all are welcome to toast the Class of 2007 on this special evening. Saturday, May 12, 2007 Block Party and Concert, McDonough Field, 3:00-4:30 Games, food, and friends, 4:30-7:30 Concert - Enjoy a great afternoon of games, music and food on McDonough Field, featuring live music by singer and songwriter Pete Yorn, best known for his hit single "Strange Condition." Sunday, May 13, 2007 President’s Open House, Lullwater House, 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. - For all graduating students, their families and guests, and alumni . Hosted by President and Mrs. James W. Wagner. Graduates, alumni, and their guests are invited to meet the Wagners and to tour Lullwater House. Shuttle buses located in front of the Dobbs University Center will take brunch guests to Lullwater House. Those not attending the Commencement brunch should park at the Michael Street Parking Deck, from where shuttle buses will take guests to Lullwater. Monday, May 14, 2007 The 162nd Commencement Exercises of Emory University, The Quadrangle, 8:00-9:15 a.m. - The academic procession begins at 8:00 a.m. President James W. Wagner will preside over the exercises. The ceremony includes the Commencement speaker, conferral of Honorary Degrees, and conferral of graduate degrees en masse.. Parking is available in all University parking decks and around the campus periphery, with shuttle service to the Quadrangle. Guests should plan to arrive early.
