ISSP-SPICE Hall Thanksgiving

The ISSP and SPICE Hall enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, November 18. The day began early Sunday afternoon with a shopping trip to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market. Students shopped for ingredients to make traditional dishes from their home countries. At around 7PM in the evening, residents of SPICE Hall arrived with exotic dishes from all across the world. The ISSP provided the traditional American Thanksgiving staples including turkey, corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, and of course pumpkin and sweet potato pies. However, we also sampled Pad Thai, curried Indian dishes, Chinese moon cakes, and homemade chocolate mousse.

While eating dinner we shared stories about Thanksgiving traditions in different parts of the world. After eating dinner some even mustered the energy to hold an impromptu dance party. The evening offered students and ISSP staff an opportunity to relax, to enjoy one another’s company and to celebrate the beginning of the winter holiday season. Below are some photos of the Thanksgiving merriment we shared that evening. Happy Thanksgiving!
