Opportunities for Spouses of International Students and Scholars

The Episcopal/Anglican Campus Ministry sponsors a weekly gathering for spouses of international students. This gathering is a place to meet other spouses, to talk about life in Atlanta, to receive information and ask questions, and to practice English in a supportive setting. Those who speak no English are particularly invited. Babies and children are welcome. Light refreshments are served.

Christina Dondero leads the Spouse Group. Christina grew up in Thailand and speaks several languages including Thai and Mandarin Chinese. She has lived in Africa and Asia for many years with her husband and five children. Christina offers friendship and practical help as the leader of the group. She is respectful of different cultures and peoples, and she creates an atmosphere of acceptance and support for spouses of international students and scholars.

The group meets on Tuesdays at 10 AM at the University Catholic Center. The Center is located on 1753 North Decatur Road.

Spouses of all faiths are welcome. This is not a religious meeting. The Spouse Group is an informal small group in which strangers become friends and all bring the richness of their own culture.

Friends Among Nations:

This group meets with ladies twice a month for cooking and craft parties, day trips, and other activities. The group also has an English program.

The most recent meeting was the Annual Welcome Brunch, held on August 31, 2009 and sponsored by the International Women’s Club and Nations at Play.
