IMMIGRATION UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Work visa workshop for all Emory international students

When: Tuesday, December 5, at 5:30pm

Where: Goizueta Business School W131 (New Wing)

The Goizueta Business School Career Management Center is hosting a workshop on work visa issues for international students presented by two experienced immigration attorneys, Mark Rhoads and Helen Konrad of the law firm McCandlish Holton. Mr. Rhoads and Ms. Konrad work with companies all over the US who sponsor foreign graduates for work visas, and they speak around the country on work visa issues for international students and graduates. The workshop will address issues such as:

  • Work visa options available upon graduation (focusing primarily on Optional Practical Training and H1B)
  • Special issues regarding H1B, such as strategies for dealing with the H1B quota, and timing issues to ensure H1B approval
  • Strategies for dealing with employers who are unfamiliar with visa issues, or who are reluctant to interview foreign students
  • Basic information regarding "green cards" (what is a "green card" and how are they obtained?)

Mr. Rhoads and Ms. Konrad will also be available after the session to answer individual questions regarding visa matters.

We encourage all of you to make plans to attend this Work Visa Workshop. Please contact Linda Shelles (information below) if you have any questions.
