IMMIGRATION UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spring orientation

We are excited to announce that we anticipate forty-five new students this semester! The International Student and Scholar Programs office will hold an International Student Orientation for all F-1 and J-1 students who begin their programs this spring 2008. The International Student Orientation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008; 8:30 am- 1 pm, in the Goizueta Business School, Room 208.

All incoming F-1 and J-1 students are required to report to Emory University. In order to meet this requirement, any new students should bring to the International Student Orientation their passports/visas, I-20s or DS-2019s and I-94s. The ISSP office will photocopy these documents during the Orientation.

Friday, January 18, 2008 - 8:30am - 1:00pm
Goizueta Business School, Room 208

Please bring your passport/visa, I-20 or DS-2019, and I-94 to orientation!

8:30am Arrival of students - collecting of immigration documents

Breakfast snacks and drinks complements of Goizueta Business School

9:00am Welcome and Introduction: Who is ISSP?

Copying of immigration documents

9:10am - 10:10am Practical Matters: This session will give basic information on topics such as public transportation, housing, social security numbers, and driver's licenses which will aid in your adjustment to Emory University and the United States.
10:10am - 10:20am Break
10:20am - 11:50am F-1/J-1 Visa Holder Immigration Session: This session will explain how to maintain your visa status and provide travel information for non-immigrants.
11:50am - 12:00pm Break
12:00pm - 1:00pm F-1/J-1 Employment Session: This session will cover regulations regarding employment opportunities for F-1/J-1 status holders.
