Staff Changes at International Student and Scholar Programs

Over the fall 2007 semester, some changes will take place in ISSP’s staffing and positions. The position of International Scholar Advisor was created as part of the ISSP team for employment-based immigration advising and the position of Senior International Student Advisor was filled.

Laura Simkiss, formerly Senior International Student Advisor, was chosen to fill this role, effective November 1st.

Angela Guinyard was appointed to fill the Senior International Student Advisor position left vacant by Laura Simkiss.Angela comes to Emory from Spelman College where she has worked as Coordinator and International Student Advisor in International & Commuter Student Services since 2003. Angela will serve as international student advisor to Master’s and PhD students in the Schools of Law, Medicine, Public Health, Allied Health, Business, Theology, and the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

Angela’s first day with the ISSP staff will be January 7th. Associate Director for International Students Dawn Williams will fulfill the duties and advising load of Laura until Angela comes on board. Any changes to this arrangement will be communicated to the international student population.
