Health insurance info for students starting in Fall 2009Please visit the Student Health Services website (http://studenthealth.emory.edu) for more details regarding the student health insurance requirements. Medical insurance is mandatory for ALL students at Emory University. Students must either purchase the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (offered by Aetna/The Chickering Group) or provide documentation of enrollment in a comparable United States-domiciled health insurance plan (a plan through a U.S. company). Please note that the School of Medicine (including the Health Professions) has a mandatory policy that international students must purchase the Emory sponsored plan and can not opt out by having a comparable plan. If you have not waived out of the Emory plan by July 1, 2009, you will be automatically enrolled in the Emory plan. The charge will be placed on your student account, and you will be billed by the bursar's office. However, you will have until August 27, 2009, to waive out of the plan. If you waive out of the plan after July 1, the charge on your account will be reversed. For more information about the 2009-2010 plan, go to www.aetnastudenthealth.com, go to "Students" then “Find Your School” and enter “Emory University.” The plan information is under "Plans & Products Offered to You". You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view some of the information. Information about the 2009-2010 insurance plan will be distributed to all Emory students this summer. Submitting your compliance form: You will submit your compliance information via the online waiver form in OPUS. This form is not currently available; however, you will see a link to the form in your “To Do” list in OPUS when the form is available. You will be able to enter your information and your compliance will be verified at that time. Students who are entering Spring 2010 or Summer 2010 will be informed of insurance compliance and payment issues closer to the time that they arrive. |
