Orientation schedule for new students starting in Fall 2008
Thursday August 21 2008, 8:00am - Wednesday August 27 2008
- The orientation is mandatory for all new international students
- Download a tentative schedule
- You must check in with the ISSP and attend the orientation so that the ISSP can properly update your information in the governmental immigration system SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). Check-ins will be available starting early August for the whole month. You may sign up on the ISSP website for a check-in appointment.
- Please note that check-in and orientation for some groups of students (including new MBA students, Law School students and Humphrey Fellows) will take place all together at a designated special session . Your school or contact will provide you with information about the special check-in/orientation session.
- Failure to attend will result in your inability to enroll in classes, and may cause a termination of your SEVIS record and therefore subject you to deportation
- Don't forget to bring your passport/visa, I-94 card, and form I-20 (F-1 students) or DS-2019 (J-1 students)
About the orientation
In addition to attending the orientation at your school or department, you also must attend the interantional student orienation coordinated by the ISSP. The ISSP holds three student orientations during the academic year:
- Around August 22 - 28 - for all new students starting their program in the Fall (everyone must first attend one of our check-in sessions which are held throughout the month of August; those who fail to attend it will not be able to enroll in classes)
- Around January 19 - for all new students starting their program in the Spring
- Around May 15 - for all new students starting their program in the Summer
The exact dates will be posted approximately a month before the scheduled orientation. J-1 non-degree students arriving throughout the year should attend our scholar orientation as soon as possible after their arrival.
