The Fire this Time is a monthly newsmagazine
devoted to promoting African-American awareness and discussing
related issues head on. The paper provides an atmosphere to deal with
possible solutions to problems rather than restating them. The
Fire seeks to strengthen lines of communication between minority
students and faculty. Sections of the publication such as "Wake-Up
Call" and "Word Up!" give the student body a voice to present their
concerns in an intelligible fashion. The faculty can then respond to
these frustrations or other pertinent issues in "Back To You" or
"Faculty Talk." The Fire's mission is based on five
principles: Provocation, Reflection, Information, Depiction, and
Entertainment. The publication seeks writers, cartoonists, artists,
photographers and others interested in "keeping The Fire This
Time's flame burning. Contact Editor in Chief Amos Jones at
727-1993.
