Latino Task Force

LTF2011

Historically LTF began in 1999 when students began talking with the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services about how to support Latino students at Emory and the challenges that are particular to Latino students inside and outside of the classroom.

The task force is also focused on increasing enrollment and improving retention of Latino students at Emory. OMPS and Admissions partnered to include faculty, student leaders, and administrators across campus as members to address these access and retention goals. The Latino Student Organization (LSO) is always represented on the task force to be a voice of their programming and campus concerns. As a group, the Latino Task Force demonstrates and develops Emory's commitment to the issues of Latino students as well as facilitates the access pipeline to college. Our meetings serve as a network to make connections to the Atlanta Latino community and enhance our diverse community. Latino Task Force typically meets once monthly (September to April) and helps with programming such as Essence of Emory and Exito Emory that bring visitors and prospective Latino students to campus.

OMPS has partnered with GOOGLE!

Google is investing $20,000 in Emory's Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS). The company's unrestricted "diversity grant" will enable OMPS to offer its Crossroads community-building program to more students. Crossroads helps first-year Emory students recognize and appreciate cultural differences.

This is the second consecutive year that Google has supported OMPS through Campaign Emory, a $1.6 billion fund-raising endeavor the combines private support and Emory's people, places and programs to make a powerful contribution to the world.

OMPS has assisted Google in arranging opportunities to recruit interns, and employees by arranging interest meetings on campus. The following Emory students have been recruited in various programs and employment opportunities sponsored by
Google.
