The purpose of the Multicutural Learning Resource Center is to provide programs and activities designed to increase awareness and appreciation for multiculturalism at Emory University. It also serves as a repository for reference publications and materials on the African American, Asian American, Latino American and Native American populations served by the Office of Multicultural Programs and services.

OBJECTIVES

* To serve as a multicultural reading room and training facility for students and faculty at Emory

* To provide printed, taped and technical resources about African American, Asian American, Latino American, and Native American populations, for student and faculty use

* To provide academic support for students and information on:

1. Ethnic populations, activities and events
2. Career opportunities
3. Scholarships and internships


* To provide research opportunities for faculty and create a forum for discussions on topics related to multiculturalism and diversity

* To support scholarship on topics of diversity and multiculturalism

* To conduct outreach activities within the Emory community

What's Happening?

The Multicultural Learning Resource Center contains a variety of resources for student and faculty use. The following electronic, print, and tape resources are available.

Location
The Multicultural Learning Resource Center is located in Suite #341 of the Woodruff Residential Center, on the Emory University campus.

Computer Lab
equipped with Macintosh IIsi computers and a Laser printer. The computers are networked to the University computer network providing access to all information sources on the network both on and off campus.

Audio-Video Lab
equipped with individual viewing and listening equipment. Video and audio tapes on a variety of ethnic topics are available.

Ethnic Library
holding cultural and historical titles on African American, Asian American, Latino American, and Native American populations. The library is a non-circulating reading room with affiliation with the University's main library.

Training Area
space is available to allow small group workshops, seminars, or meetings. It contains a chalkless board, bulletin board, and viewing screen.

Ethnic Speakers Bureau
speakers on a variety of ethnic topics will be featured in the Center. Local, regional, and national figures will be invited to make presentations.
