The utilization of shared knowledge, beliefs, and experiences is a powerful tool in helping a new student feel comfortable in his or her new Emory environment. One person is all it takes to help a first year student connect with a community, which is crucial to succeeding both academically and socially. MORE (Multicultural Outreach and Resources at Emory), is an exciting program designed to assist freshman students with their transition to college life. Each incoming student who chooses to enroll in the MORE Program will be paired with an upper-class student-mentor who will help guide his or her first steps into Emory. In addition, the student will belong to a “family” made up of other freshmen-mentor pairs. These families participate in a variety of programs and activities! We extend to you the invitation to participate in this remarkable program.
Mentor: The MORE Mentors are exceptional student leaders who serve as role models, sharing their own involvement and experiences in academic and social associations. Our Mentors help their mentees adjust to Emory's academic environment by offering insights on courses, professors, and research opportunities. Additionally, the Mentors introduce new students to Emory's many support services and resources. The MORE Mentors make the effectiveness of the program possible and are an integral part of supporting a welcoming Emory community.
Mentee: The MORE Mentees are incoming first-year students who are excited to join the Emory community. They are open-minded individuals looking to meet other students and build relationships early into their Emory career. The Mentees are committed to learning about the support services and resources Emory has to offer.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the program all four years of college because I believe in MORE's message, all that it can offer students from every background, and above all it provided me with more laughs and fun times than I can remember.
