1201. Lock signal freezes, acquisition window disappears, and system says number of points not equal to np (INOVA system).

  1. The CTC line may be missing or defective. Check or replace the short cable between P4 of the Data Acquisition Controller (DAC) board and P11 of the ADC 500 kHz board.

     

  2. Check the power supply. Verify that all of the LEDs are lighted and that they are not dim.

     

  3. Check the ADC 500-kHz board and replace if necessary.

1202. Lock signal freezes or is erratic (GEMINI system).

1203. Sample does not insert or spin speed does not regulate (INOVA system).

  1. Make sure that the air line is normal and that there is air coming out of the bearing valve and rotational valve.

     

  2. If step 1 is okay, replace the Magnet/Sample Regulation (MSR) board. This board operates all control lines for the spinner including eject, insert, spin on/off, and spin regulation.

     

  3. If the sample does not regulate when the upper barrel is outside the magnet, remove the cover from the magnet leg housing and replace the rotational valve that has a yellow cap.

1204. System hangs after running normally for several hours.

  1. Verify that all of the power supply LEDs are lighted and/or measure the power supply output levels.

     

  2. If any digital board is displaying a failure light, replace the board.

     

  3. Using a terminal, check for bus trap errors at the ACQ DIAG port. Compare the trap error with the memory map to locate the defective board.

1205. FIFO underflow after taking acquisition.

1206. Cannot setup after bootup.

  1. Verify that all of the power supply LEDs are lighted and/or measure the power supply output levels.

     

  2. If any digital board is displaying a failure light, replace the board.

     

  3. Check the clock signal that goes to the Output board, Acquisition controller, and DAC boards.

     

  4. Using a terminal, check for bus trap errors at the ACQ DIAG port. Compare the trap error with the memory map to locate the defective board.

1207. No normal relay clicking sound, system says setup completed.

  1. Verify that all of the power supply LEDs are lighted and/or measure the power supply output levels.

     

  2. Check the AP bus cable for loose connections.

     

  3. Remove each individual board containing an AP chip, one by one, and look for any change during setup. If there is a difference, replace the removed board.

1208. Differential box causes Sun workstation to hangup

  1. Turn the console, differential box, and Sun workstation off, and then (in the following order) turn the console on, turn the Sun workstation on for a minute, and turn the differential box on.

     

  2. If this doesn't fix the problem, repeat the sequence but do not turn on the console.If the Sun workstation doesn't hang, the problem is in the console section, perhaps the HAL board.

     

  3. If the Sun workstation still hangs, the problem is probably the differential box. Check the differential box fuse and/or replace with a new differential box.

1209. Cannot do decoupling or cannot control decoupler power (UNITY or VXR system).

1210. Spectrum has birdies everywhere with pw=0.

To determine the source of the birdies:

  1. Disconnect cable:
    INOVA and UNITYplus systems  P244 of Observe Receiver 
    UNITY, VXR, and XL systems  P2705 of Audio Filter board 
    GEMINI systems  P3 of Input board 
    MERCURY systems  P304 of Digital Backplane

     

  2. Take an acquisition with maximum gain.
