Monarchs in Mexico

February 6 - 13 or February 13 - 20, 2010

Join Monarchs Across Georgia as we visit the wintering grounds of three monarch butterfly colonies and explore the cultural and natural history of Mexico. Not only will you experience the breathtaking sight of millions of monarchs, but you’ll also learn about local efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally sound economic activities in the areas around the butterfly preserves. We will also be delivering books purchased through our Mexico Book Project to school children.

The cost of the trip is $1,500 per person (double occupancy) or $1,800 per person (single occupancy). Complete details, including trip itinerary and application, are available at www.monarchsacrossga.org. Five professional learning units (PLUs) are available for certified Georgia teachers.

This year’s theme of "Environmental Literacy" will provide attendees the opportunity to increase their environmental knowledge, skills and behaviors. Sessions, field trips and keynote speakers will inform attendees through 4 strands: Consumer Choices (behavior), Knowledge, Skills Development, and Partnerships for Environmental Literacy.
