Some peripheral topics in the text we have omitted. Our coverage of text sections is as follows:

Chapter 10: 10.1 - 10.6

Chapter 11: 11.1 - 11.10

Chapter 16: 16.1 - 16.9

Chapter 17: 17.1 - 17.6

However, the text has some real weaknesses in this portion of the course. Topics we covered in greater depth than the text included

For simple harmonic motion: time dependent motion, for arbitrary starting point

For waves: propagation of wave pulses; representations via "snapshot" and "movie" graphs, and interpolating between the two; mathematical descriptions of propagating waves

For interference: reflections from fixed and free ends; standing waves for strings and pipes (in terms of pressure or displacement); fixed and free string end conditions, open and closed pipe end conditions

You are of course responsible for coverage at the level of the lecture, homework and review problems.
