The Presidential
Advisory Committee (PAC) is composed of senior faculty who
are elected by their colleagues to assist the president and provost in
promoting excellence across Emory and to ensure comparable quality across
the schools while protecting the distinctiveness of each. The primary
function of the committee is to review each file for tenure and promotion
before it moves to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.
The president and provost determine which files shall be forwarded to
the Academic Affairs Committee. In this role, the PAC does not vote on
files, nor does it consider appeals.
As an advisory group, the committee consults with the president
on any matters he brings before them.
