The Emory Facilitator Network (EFN)...
facilitator n. 1. One who assists in making easy or easier. 2. An individual committed to offering culturally competent assistance, leadership and support within settings dedicated to open dialogue, increased awareness and greater knowledge around a specific topic or topics.
Among the students, faculty and staff of Emory University there are dozens, if not hundreds, of individuals committed to furthering the message of inclusion and acceptance on campus. Many of these individuals have received specialized training in diversity issues, group facilitation and/or conflict resolution, and have actually served as leaders within existing campus programs. Others have had no formalized training in facilitation skills, but share an intense desire for involvement in programming that not only furthers their education, but affords them opportunities to support diversity education across the Emory campus.
The demand is high at Emory for accessible, integrated educational resources around issues of inclusion, diversity and difference. Student groups and organizations, as well as university departments throughout the Emory system continually seek diversity training and programming, as well as opportunities for open, safe dialogue around often difficult topics.
The Emory Facilitator Network (EFN) is the umbrella structure for programs intended to encourage this safe dialogue, and enhance our campus' capacity for diversity, equity and inclusion.
