Ozzie Harris, II, JD serves as the Senior Vice Provost for Community and Diversity at Emory University. As a senior member of the Provost's Office, Mr. Harris is charged with identifying, creating and advancing efforts that lead to the development of "community," both internal and external, at Emory. Mr. Harris' areas of concern are three-fold: building community through existing programs and policies on campus; working with academic units and external sources to transfer theory to practice in the Atlanta community; and creating meaningful opportunities for interaction on campus. Towards that end, Mr. Harris guides campus diversity projects, programs and services and directs policies that create a welcoming climate for faculty, staff, students and visitors.

Mr. Harris earned his undergraduate degree in English from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Vermont Law School. He has worked with the Boston Human Rights Commission and with the New Hampshire Public Defender's Office. Before joining Emory in 2007, Mr. Harris served as Special Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Institutional Equity at Dartmouth College.
