Emory University Partnership Advisory Council (EUPAC)...
The Emory University Partnership Advisory Council (EUPAC) was established 10 years ago as an explicit partnership between Emory and four area schools - two elementary schools (Fernbank and Cary Reynolds ES), one middle school (Shamrock MS), and one high school (Druid Hills HS), and also includes a representative from the DeKalb County School System. Within Emory, the division of Educational Studies and the Provost's Office are the primary partners. Members of the partnership meet quarterly at one of the partner institutions for conversations among administrators and representatives to discuss achievements, issues, and challenges and to work collectively toward solutions. One key activity of the partnership is the placement of Emory undergraduate students as tutors in each of the partner schools as part of service learning courses in the Division of Educational Studies. In addition, Emory also supports annual teacher and student recognition, facilitates Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate testing, and facilitates selected fundraising activities of the various schools. Partner schools are also encouraged to access the Carlos Museum and its programs and various other teacher and student enrichment programs that occur on Emory's campus. The partnership also serves as a vehicle of information between the schools, the DeKalb system headquarters, and Emory University in ways that support the advancement of education in the partner schools.
