This initiative supports faculty writers, particularly those developing book manuscripts. Any full-time faculty member can contact us to arrange an individual consultation with an editor. We provide suggestions on book proposals and chapters, as well as issues related to the writing process and book publication. This one-on-one consultation is tailored to support the individual author’s goals. Some writers, for example, aim to reach cross-disciplinary audiences; others target readers outside of academe; and, of course, some are revising their first book. Typically, we offer editorial feedback to help authors craft the most effective presentation of their ideas. We often work, for instance, with organization, voice, clarity, and strategies for engaging readers.
In addition to these individual consultations, the program offers workshops on various facets of scholarly writing and publication. In the spring of 2007, we began also to facilitate a faculty writing group focused on the topic of biography and life-writing. Check out our Events page or Biography Group to learn more about these activities.
