Student Organizations

There are numerous student organizations made up of various peer counseling and peer education groups which strive to support the emotional and personal health and well-being of the Emory Community. We provide education, prevention, advocacy, peer counseling and crisis intervention. The services we offer include:

Emory Helpline The Emory Helpline is a telephone counseling and referral service providing anonymous peer counseling and confidential support to members of the Emory Community. Helpline volunteers undergo extensive and intensive paraprofessional training prior to commencement of work on the telephone lines. Training continues with in-service workshops, supervision, and seminars during each semester. To reach the Helpline, 404.727.HELP (4357), open 7 nights a week; 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Emory Sexual Assault Information Line Contact Leslie Campis, PhD at (404) 727-1514 for survivors of sexual assault and their friends, describing various sources of help and support.

Peer Counselors Peer Counselors are a group of Emory students who have been trained to provide a number of peer counseling and referral services. Peer counselors provide an informal environment where students can come to talk confidentially. The peer counselors maintain their skills through inservice training and supervision.

Student Health Alliance of Peer Educators (SHAPE) SHAPE members are trained to present programs to the Emory community in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, nutrition, sexual health, and fitness. Contact Heather Zeisiger at EUSHS (404) 727-7551
