Committee
Activity
- Reviewed
current classification of Post Docs as Zone 1. Committee determined
no change required to that classification.
- Full
committee met with Campus Master Planners to review traffic and parking
related issues with the master plan.
- Reviewed
and provided response to Senate on SGA resolution #31SL03, "Resolution
to address concerns of students with disabilities."
- Reviewed
1999 rates for parking.
- Reviewed
assignment process to decks by Parking and Community Services. Current
system appeared fair to the committee without further adjustments.
- Discussed
pedestrian path between VA/Lullwater (including bridge replacement)
but determined for security reasons this item would not be reviewed
further by our committee.
- Examined
concerns regarding lack of free Marta to Grady based Emory employees.
While sympathetic to those employees, the committee felt this item could
not be addressed further by our committee. Chair discussed this matter
with Vice President Alice Miller who has agreed to re-address this issue
in conjunction with the Employee Council and Traffic and Parking Committee.
- Reviewed
and endorsed plan for speed humps at Administration Building, Dobbs
University Center, Peavine Deck and Depot locations.
- Committee
supported formation of Clifton Corridor Traffic and Management Association
(joining Emory efforts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
& The American Cancer Society)
- Committee
supported concept of Marta's light rail proposal.
- Committee
supported methods of reducing the numbers of larger vehicles to the
Emory campus and improving access to bicyclists.
- Committee
debated at some length the relocation of a greenhouse on top of the
Michael Street deck. We call to the attention of the Senate that despite
liaison committee appointments from Campus Planning and Facilities Management
Division this activity was never formally brought to the attention of
the committee. Chair discussed this matter with Bob Haskell who agreed
to include traffic and parking in the future, as well as to personally
serve on our committee.
