$4 Prescription Medications at Target and Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club
and Free Antibiotics at Publix
![]()
Both Target and Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club now offer an extensive formulary of generic prescription medications for $4.00 for up to a 30-day supply. For many students, these low prices may be significantly under their pharmacy plan co-pays (including the Emory Student Aetna/Chickering plan). Be sure to ask your EUSHS clinical provider (or outside physician) if one of these low-priced generic medications may be a good fit for you, particularly if you are nearing your annual pharmacy coverage cap. Your provider may feel that you need the more expensive, newer medication, and therefore not everyone can make the switch to a bargain-rate generic. But it is worth asking!
Publix announced on August 6, 2007 that all Publix Pharmacies will offer free prescriptions on seven different antibiotics for up to a 14 day supply. The antibiotics include: Amoxicillin, Ampicillin, Cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin (excluding ciprofloxacin XR), Erythromycin (excluding Ery-Tab), Penicillin VK, Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP), and recently added Doxycycline Hyclate (capsules only).
