Emory Ranks High for Black Faculty
Emory has the second highest percentage of full-time and tenured black
faculty among the nation's highest-ranked colleges and universities, according
to a new study by The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education (Winter 1999/2000).
Only Columbia University had a higher percentage of full-time black faculty
-- 7.2 to Emory's 7.1 percent -- and only Georgetown had a higher percentage
of tenured black faculty -- 4.8 to Emory's 3.9 percent. The report is
based on a 1999 survey of 27 of the highest-ranked institutions. Here
are the rankings according to the JBHE report:
