PROFILE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY GRADUATES
On Monday, May 10, Emory University will graduate approximately 3,156 students from the academic year 1998-99. Of those students, 36 will receive double degrees. Forty-give percent of the graduates are male and 55 percent are female.
An approximate total of 3,192 degrees will be awarded: 1,676 undergraduate degrees; 1,032 graduate degrees; 420 professional degrees; and 64 certificates. Seventy-two percent of the graduates are white; 9.7 percent are black; 14 percent represent other minorities from the United States; and 4.2 percent are international students. There are 231 students from 79 countries. Forty-five states are represented.
There are 46 degree candidates over the age of 50. The two oldest are age 69 and are scheduled to earn a master's of divinity and Ph.D., respectively. The oldest bachelor's degree recipient is a 49-year-old scheduled to earn a degree in nursing, and the youngest is a 19-year-old scheduled to earn a bachelor's degree in political science. There are 17 service veterans graduating. Thirty-three percent of Emory College graduates have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or more. The average GPA of Emory College graduates is 3.2.
