The klieg lights will shine on the Emory campus Jan. 28 when the best of this year's iMovieFest creations hit the big screen during the iMovieNight Showcase. More than $3,200 in prizes will be awarded to the top movies, which will be announced during the showcase. For the second year in a row, more than 1,000 Emory students--armed with digital cameras and Apple's iMovie technology--worked in teams to create their own movies. The week-long movie-making frenzy fosters creative collaboration among students and is aimed at bringing residence hall-mates together to create compelling movies. Working loosely under the theme of "Imagine," students have created a wide variety of short films, including humorous takes on campus life, spoofs of TV shows and movies, and fanciful stories involving world events. The event is coordinated by the Apple Student Core @ Emory (ASCE),
a student organization dedicated to using technology to enhance Emory
and the surrounding community, including teaching computer skills to
children in some Atlanta neighborhoods and schools. For more information,
call 404-727-4871 or go to http://imoviefest.cc.emory.edu/asce.htm.
The event is free and open to the public.
