Mark Feinberg has been a national leader in AIDS research since the earliest days of the epidemic, holding several key positions within the NIH before coming to Emory in 1997. He joined a stellar group of scientists within Emory's new vaccine center who are working to design a vaccine against HIV. He and his colleagues are using a variety of methods, including modifying tried-and-true vaccines, like the one for yellow fever, to create a stronger immune response against HIV. "Our program spans everything from basic research in virology and immunology to evaluation in animal models, then to clinical evaluation in people," he says. | ||||
