The broad range of technology initiatives suggests the strong potential of the digital environment. Emory is exploring that potential to transform teaching and research.

Emory is committed to making access to computers and the Internet easy for all members of the community. There are more than 500 publicly available computers; 45 percent of these are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

There are 24,000 e-mail accounts at Emory.

Emory and Georgia Tech are making plans for a biotechnology development center that will nurture promising technologies until they are strong enough to become stand-alone businesses. The center expects to spawn twenty-three start-up companies during the next ten years and to generate 4,000 new jobs.

During a summer program, selected Emory faculty take a crash course in electronic technology and are shown how to incoporate web-based resources into their courses.
