Reference Policy
Ask the Reference Librarian
Prior to submitting a reference question using this forum, please read the
Electronic Reference Assistance Policy below to obtain details about the
appropriate length and nature of the query, limits on the query, and response
time to a query.
Length and Nature of the Query
Please do not request assistance for very long, involved questions; if you
require more extensive assistance than this forum permits, please contact the
reference desk at 404-727-5813 to inquire about a fee for service known as a
Literature Search.
Limits on the Query
The Reference Librarian who responds to an individual's query can forward a
definition of a syndrome, disease or other condition but will not comment on
the condition itself, and the reference material used to answer the query will
be cited; no medical advice will be dispensed.
Turnaround Time for Query Response
When an electronic reference question is received, a Reference Staff member
will send a message to acknowledge that one's question has been received.
Your question will be answered as promptly as possible, but the time and day
of the week will affect the speed at which your question is answered.
Excluding holidays and the weekends, the general turnaround time for a
response to a query during the working week is between 24 to 48 hours
depending upon the availability of the Reference Librarians on staff. If you
cannot wait between 24 to 48 hours to receive your answer, we recommend that
you call the reference desk at: 404-727-5813.
