Emory University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia, 30033-4097; Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award degrees at the associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
In addition, the following bodies accredit schools or programs within the university: American Bar Association; American Council of Pharmaceutical Education; American Dental Association; American Dietetic Association; American Physical Therapy Association; American Psychological Association; Association for Clinical Pastoral Education; Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business; Association of Theological Schools in the US and Canada; Council on Education for Public Health; Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Technology; Association of American Medical Colleges; National Association of Schools of Music; National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education; National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Emory was placed on the approved list of the American Association of Universities in 1924; installed chapters of Phi Beta Kappa in 1929 and Sigma Xi in 1944; became a member of the Southern University Conference in 1935, of the Council of Southern Universities in 1952, of the Council of Graduate Schools in 1961, of the American Association of Research Libraries in 1975 and of the Association of American Universities in 1995. The university is also a member of the American Council of Education, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Private Colleges and Universities in Georgia, and the Georgia Association of Colleges, Association of American Universities Data Exchange, and the College Board.
