Nearly 5.5 million people call Atlanta home. So do the 11 Fortune 500 firms headquartered here. Indeed, Atlanta ranks fourth among U.S. cities with the most Fortune 500 company headquarters, and 24 Fortune 1000 companies are headquartered here as well.

Being a student at Emory also might mean being a part of Atlanta's vibrant workforce: internship opportunities abound. The Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, UPS, Equifax. The list goes on. During the summer, we send about as many interns to New York, Washington, Los Angeles and other cities as we send into Atlanta during the actual school year. By taking advantage of these opportunities, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the industry you’re interested in and whether it’s really right for you.

“I’ve had the chance to explore different business models and industries through three internships, helping me choose where I want to focus. At first I thought I wanted to go to medical school and interned at a forensic science lab in Miami. It wasn’t for me, and I started to consider business.

“At Raymond James Financial in Atlanta I worked with an independent broker dealer. This was my first exposure to the business world. During my internship at J. P. Morgan in the Asset Management Division in New York I worked in investment management. This was an incredible experience that allowed me to apply my financial knowledge and develop my relationship management skills.”
