Social science research involves asking complex questions about humans and the societies, customs, lives and laws they create. Areas of inquiry are as diverse as investigating the health history of ancient peoples, examining race in politics or looking at the development of children of depressed parents. Research methods in the social sciences can range from quantitative to qualitative analyses and include such techniques as surveys, interviews, ethnographic analyses, archival research and clinical investigations.
