We hope you will carefully evaluate all of your college choices - question faculty, check out life on campus, and imagine where you'd like to make your mark. Emory students have often described a special energy they felt from the first time they visited our campus. We hope you make that same discovery. Use the links below and to the right to help you navigate through the new student experience. You can also print our helpful Next Steps Information Sheet. If you have any questions, you may contact us by calling 800-727-6036 or writing admiss@emory.edu.
We look forward to welcoming you to this dynamic community next fall!
Choose from two distinctive programs, each giving you and your family a personalized introduction to living and learning at Emory.
Friday, April 13 • Monday, April 16 • Friday, April 20 • Monday, April 23
While students attend classes in the morning, parents are invited to participate in question-and-answer sessions with staff and faculty. Topics include professional advising, transition to college, campus life, and others. In the afternoon, enjoy a student-guided campus tour and the opportunity to speak with current students.
Due to space limitations, only Regular Decision Admitted Students may register for an open house visit. These opportunities are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not make any flight arrangements until you have confirmed your visit.
If you're unable to attend an Open House, Day Visits are encouraged (see next section).
NOTE: Registration for April Open Houses will not be available until all Regular Decision notifications are released on April 1, 2012.
Spend the morning in any available classes that interest you (students only please; class visits available through 4/11), and enjoy this opportunity to meet current students and talk with professors. In the afternoon, take a student-guided campus tour followed by a panel discussion with current students. If you're unable to attend an Open House, Day Visits are encouraged.
NOTE: Registration for April Day Visits will not be available until all Regular Decision notifications are released on April 1, 2012.
Emory University now provides travel assistance for a limited number of Regular Decision admitted students who meet specific guidelines and wish to visit campus for the first time in the month of April. Students who have completed their Financial Aid application requirements by April 1, 2012 will be reviewed individually for this exciting opportunity. A student's travel reimbursement will be determined solely by the need demonstrated in his / her financial aid application. Please note these reimbursement funds are available in limited amounts for those who qualify on a first come, first served basis.
Please provide the student's full name, home address, and preferred departure airport to Tyler Sant at wsant@emory.edu. We will partner with the Office of Financial Aid to review each inquiry for reimbursement eligibility, and we will respond accordingly.
If you are unable to visit our campus, please feel free to take advantage of these resources to learn more about Emory University.
See for yourself. Visit Emory virtually by checking out our sites on YouTube, Facebook, iTunes U, Blogs, Twitter, and RSS feeds. You'll find footage of discussions with students and faculty and of students engaged in campus activities, revealing the spirit of student life at Emory. Residence halls, classroom discussions, student services, social and recreational opportunities, the greater Atlanta area, and more—it’s all here for you to see and evaluate in your own home at www.emory.edu/interact.
You were given access to this online community when you applied to Emory, so you may already be familiar with Learnlink. If you're not, it's an easy way to connect with campus. Visit Learnlink to explore class offerings, clubs, sports, and organizations. You may chat with current Emory students or with other prospective students. You'll need a username and password. If you don't have those handy, you may get them online from the Learnlink site: www.learnlink.emory.edu
Choosing a college is no small task. There are so many elements to consider and, let's face it, brochures, web pages, and college tours aren't always enough to help you decide. One way to get a feel for a potential college or university is by talking to someone who knows it firsthand.
Email a student at emorystudents@listserv.emory.edu or visit our Student Forum online.
Members of the Emory family will be hosting "Meet Emory" admitted student events across the country. Hosted by Emory alumni and parents of current students, these events allow prospective students the chance to interact with Emory College deans, other Emory administrators, and local alumni. The deans of Emory College and admission officers will attend most of the events and give talks to incoming students about life at Emory, campus activities, and other information. Admitted students also will have the opportunity to meet other local admitted students.
NOTE: Registration for Meet Emory events will not be available until all Regular Decision notifications are released on April 1, 2012.
To reserve your place in the Class of 2016, you must send a non refundable deposit of $475 by May 1, 2012. (This deposit includes an orientation fee, a housing reservation fee and a credit towards the first semester tuition.) If you require an extension on the deposit deadline, please contact Tyler Sant, Senior Admission Counselor, via email at least two days prior to the deposit deadline.
To pay your enrollment deposit online, sign on to your OPUS account. The Admission section is on the left side of the "Student Center" main page. You will find the link to pay your deposit under the Admissions tab. In addition, you will need to mail the signed Admission Response Card to our Office (see below).
Pay your $475 deposit on OPUS
The process for making foreign currency payments is found in OPUS at Student Center> Campus Finances> Wire Foreign Currency Payment. Choose “Payment Wire Transfer” from the dropdown menu under My Account. If your country is not eligible for use of this process, you may wire the deposit to Emory.
Carefully review the Next Steps information sheet, paying close attention to the Acceptance Agreement that outlines the terms of your admission to Emory College. To confirm your understanding of all aspects of the agreement, return the Admission Response Card bearing both you and your parent's signatures. Take special note that we require you to withdraw all other college applications when you send your $450 deposit. This card will arrive in your official admission packet, or if you wish to take care of this immediately, it can also be downloaded and printed from this site.

Your admission is conditional pending receipt of your final secondary school transcript and documentation of graduation. Be advised that the Admission Committee requires the same level of academic achievement and personal conduct through the completion of your senior year. Failure to maintain this level of performance and schedule of courses could result in a withdrawal of our admission offer.
International students must also submit a Statement of Finances and return it to the Admission Office. You must verify the amounts and sources of your educational funds in order for Emory to issue an 1-20 form that is required for your F-1 visa. This information must be completed prior to enrollment.

If you wish to defer your enrollment for one year, you may request to do so by writing to the Associate Dean of Admission, Emily Simmons. In your request, please provide a documented plan for the year which may include work, travel, or volunteering. Students who are granted deferment may not enroll as a student on a full-time basis during that year and may only take a maximum of two courses throughout the deferral year.
In order to defer your admission and reserve your place in the following year's class, you must pay a deposit of $1,475.00 which includes the initial $475.00 admission deposit and the additional deferment deposit of $1,000.00. If you have already paid the $475.00 deposit, please submit the additional $1,000.00 deposit with your request for deferral.
