Culture and Attractions

Concert on the Square
Centennial Park

Atlanta is a wonderful host. That’s why so many events are held here each year, and why so many great cultural attractions make a home in our city.

It’s why the 1996 Summer Olympic Games were held here, and it’s why the Georgia Aquarium, the worlds largest aquarium, is located in downtown Atlanta. And the Peachtree Road Race, the world’s largest 10k with some 55,000 runners, takes place on our famous main street every Fourth of July. Also taking place only in Atlanta every summer is the National Black Arts Festival, a celebration of African American music, film, visual art, dance and literature.

The World of Coca-Cola, the High Museum of Art and the CNN Center are among our most admired and visited venues. Other Atlanta attractions include:

Atlanta Botanical Garden

Scottish Highland Games

Centennial Olympic Park

Six Flags

Dogwood Festival

Stone Mountain Park

Fernbank Science Center

Underground Atlanta

Festival Peachtree Latino

UniverSoul Circus

Greek Festival

White Water

Inman Park Festival

William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum

“The attractions around Atlanta have enriched my experience at Emory. My friends and I have visited the High Museum of Art forCollege Night at the High,’ Zoo Atlanta, several Braves games, and on many occasions gone to Atlantic Station for dinner and a trip to the movies.

“Atlanta offers a refreshing variety of activities that are well-suited for college students. It's not hard to find something that fits your mood and your taste, which is perfect for someone who is looking for something beyond a mainstream college experience.”
