Inclement Weather Schedule

Inclement Weather Plan

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY EVENTS

Most weekend events including the Sunday Baccalaureate, Commencement Brunch, and Lullwater Open House take place rain or shine.  In the event of rain, students attending the Baccalaureate service should arrive in full cap and gown and proceed to the Fellowship Hall in the Church School Building behind Glenn Auditorium to line up.  Guests attending the Lullwater Open house should be prepared for a longer-than-normal wait to enter the house (you may be asked to stay on the bus until space is available inside the house) and that wet umbrellas must be temporarily left outside the house to reduce indoor slip hazards.

MONDAY EVENTS

The Monday all-schools Quadrangle ceremony takes place as scheduled under light-rain ("umbrella-friendly") conditions.  Guests are encouraged to be aware of the potential for rain, dress accordingly (including appropriate footwear for walking on wet grass), and bring a small umbrella and/or poncho.

Important note: If the weather forecast calls for rain on Sunday night or Monday morning, we strongly encourage you to check the website (www.emory.edu) or the weather hotline at 404-727-1234 after 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening so that you will know when/where to arrive on Monday morning. Be aware that some events start earlier under the inclement weather schedule than the regular schedule to accommodate the higher demand on indoor facilities.  Other events may be delayed which could impact Monday evening travel plans.

If heavy rain (sustained downpour) or severe weather (high winds, flooding, extreme temperatures, etc.) are expected, the University may activate the "Heavy Rain" or "Severe Weather" schedules below.  Once the heavy-rain or severe-weather schedule is activated, that schedule will remain in effect even if weather conditions improve.  In the event that conditions deteriorate, additional contingency plans may be announced.
