Inclement Weather Schedule

Inclement Weather Plan

The main Emory website (www.emory.edu) is the best and fastest way to learn if either the "Light Rain" or the "Severe Weather" plans have been activated.  You may also call 404-727-1234 after 6:00 a.m. on Commencement morning for a recorded message.  Though it is very unlikely that the University would activate the "Severe Weather" plan, parents and guests for School of Law, School of Nursing, and College of Arts & Sciences ceremonies are encouraged to arrange their travel plans for late afternoon/evening departures.

Details for LIGHT RAIN plan | Details for SEVERE WEATHER plan

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT BACCALAUREATE AND THE PRESIDENT'S OPEN HOUSE ON SUNDAY, MAY 13:

Both Baccalaureate and the Lullwater Open House are scheduled to take place rain or shine.  Students attending the Baccalaureate service should arrive in full cap and gown and proceed to the FELLOWSHIP HALL in the Church-School building BEHIND Glenn Auditorium to line up.  Guests attending the Lullwater Open house should be prepared for a longer-than-normal wait to enter the house (you will stay on the bus until space is available inside) and that wet umbrellas are not permitted in the house to help prevent slip hazards.

IN THE EVENT OF LIGHT RAIN

The all-schools ceremony on the Quadrangle will go forward in light rain or drizzle at 8:00 a.m. The audience is invited to use umbrellas. Depending on the force of the rain and the potential of more severe weather conditions, the president could decide to confer all degrees en masse and conclude the ceremony. Diploma ceremonies would then be held as listed below.
