Baccalaureate Service
Glenn Memorial Auditorium
The Baccalaureate tradition is an integral part of Commencement exercises, marking the end of a student's undergraduate years. Emory's Baccalaureate is an inter-religious service with prayers, readings and music from various religious traditions. President James W. Wagner delivers the Baccalaureate Address. Baccalaureate is for all students receiving bachelor's degrees (BA, BS, BSN, BBA) and their guests. Students (in caps and gowns) assemble on the Quadrangle near the Administration Building at 8:30 a.m. and follow marshals and the bagpiper to Glenn. In case of rain, graduates should go directly to Fellowship Hall in the Church School Building behind Glenn Auditorium. For the service, guests should park in the Fishburne Parking Deck. Those attending the Commencement Brunch may then walk or ride the shuttle to the brunch. Special note: this very popular event is always filled to capacity. For your safety, we are not permitted to allow guests to stand or sit in the aisles, vestibule, or areas reserved for the degree-candidates. We recommend that you arrive early to ensure a seat. Overflow viewing on video screens is available in a tented area of the church lawn.
