Welcome to the Emory Emeritus College Website!
Welcome to the Emeritus College of Emory University web site. The mission of the Emeritus College is to enhance the relationship between Emory University and more senior members of the University community in ways that will benefit the mission of the University, and contribute to the wellbeing of the emeriti and those who are considering retirement. Our website is one means of furthering our mission by presenting relevant information about events and opportunities for learning and service. The Emeritus College welcomes emeriti and other readers from the Atlanta area and from across the country.
To compliment the website, the staff members of the Emeritus College - Charity Crabtree, Program Coordinator and Post-Doctoral Fellow, Heather Scheuerman, graduate assistant, and I - are available each day to assist and answer questions as you consider the possibilities of retirement or the ongoing rewards of life in retirement. Opportunities exist within the Emeritus College for ongoing service to Emory University and to the community beyond the campus. The Projects page will give you a taste of ways to be engaged. Avenues for continued learning abound within the College as the monthly breakfast and lunch discussion groups and the writers' group attest. If you explore the link on our website to the Emeritus College Calendar, you will see the diversity of topics that are explored and discussed, and the ways in which Emory professors recreate themselves in retirement - from chemists to historians or professors of religion to novelists. Life in retirement is certainly not dull.
Weekly Announcements are emailed to Emeritus College members and friends. Contact Charity to be added to this list. Our Resources page has a listing of recommended reading concerning brain health and successful aging. We endeavor to keep you up to date on news items with wide appeal and those which are more local in nature. If you follow our Media link, you will have the opportunity to watch and listen to women and men who played a part in the history of this great University. I hope that you will find answers to some questions and perhaps food for thought in the website of the Emeritus College.
Warmest regards,
Nan Partlett,
Director of the Emeritus College
