Service Committee

The Service Committee assists in matching members’ interests with volunteer opportunities for service to the community and to the university. The following are ways in which EUEC members and the Emory community may serve/volunteer:

  • MedShare is a nonprofit organization that delivers surplus medical supplies and equipment to hospitals in more than 85 developing nations. Members of the Service Committee visit Medshare to sort and pack these items on the fourth Thursday of every month, except November and December. Carpools are arranged for each session.
  • Emory Cares International Service Day is held each year on the second Saturday of November. EUEC members, along with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of the Emory community worldwide, join together to demonstrate Emory’s values of service and social justice.
  • Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) is an ongoing effort to fight hunger throughout Georgia. Each year during the weeks prior to Thanksgiving, the EUEC accepts onsite donations on behalf of the ACFB.

To volunteer or for more information about the EUEC’s Service Committee and its activities, or to suggest another activity, email Marianne Scharbo-DeHaan or Ali P. Crown.
